How we collect, use and protect the information you share with JST Advisor, LLC.

For the site owner: not yet reviewed

The text below was revised on 22 September 2026 to match how the firm actually operates, but it has not been reviewed by a professional. Check it against your Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act privacy notice obligations and IRS Publication 4557 requirements. Remove this box only once that review has happened — it is on the launch checklist in issue #14.

Information we collect

To prepare returns and provide accounting services we collect information you give us directly — including your name, contact details, Social Security or taxpayer identification number, income and expense records, banking information for direct deposit, and the tax documents you upload to our secure client portal. We also receive information from third parties you authorize, such as prior preparers or financial institutions.

When you visit this website we may collect standard technical information such as browser type, device type and pages visited. We do not collect tax information through this website; sensitive documents are exchanged only through the secure client portal.

How we use your information

We use your information solely to provide the services you have engaged us for: preparing and filing returns, maintaining your books, running payroll, responding to your questions, and meeting our own legal and regulatory recordkeeping obligations.

How we share your information

We do not sell your information. We disclose it only:

  • to tax authorities as part of filing your returns, with your authorization;
  • to service providers who support our practice under confidentiality obligations, such as our IRS-approved tax software and client portal vendors;
  • to third parties you specifically direct us to, such as a lender requesting a copy of your return; and
  • where required by law, subpoena or regulatory authority.

Federal law generally requires your written consent before a tax return preparer may disclose or use your tax return information for any purpose other than preparing your return.

How we protect your information

Our systems are configured with current security updates. We maintain a firewall system, anti-malware and anti-virus programs, and strong password requirements. This website is secured with an SSL certificate, our email runs full encryption through Office 365, and our tax preparation programs, internet portal and related software packages are purchased through IRS-approved vendors.

Please do not send tax documents or identifying numbers by regular email — always use the client portal.

Retention

We retain client records for the period required by professional standards and applicable law, and dispose of them securely thereafter.

Your choices

You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccuracies, or ask questions about this policy at any time by calling (571) 314-1000 or messaging us through the client portal.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies necessary for it to function and, where enabled, basic analytics. You can block cookies through your browser settings; the site will continue to work.
